Bio
Omowura O. Adedayo is a multidisciplinary artist and designer working across painting, drawing, mixed media, and fashion. At twenty years old, he has exhibited at institutions including the University of Florida and Florida Atlantic University, developing a practice grounded in identity and culture.
An Honors Fine Arts student at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU), Adedayo has received early recognition for both his visual art and fashion design. He was awarded First Place Designer of the 2025 FAMU Homecoming Fashion Show and received support through a DTLR grant. In 2026, he was selected as a recipient of the Cultures Around Us Grant through United Arts of Central Florida. Earlier, at age eighteen, he earned First Place in the Orlando Museum of Art and Orlando Magic 2-Dimensional Visual Arts Competition.
Alongside his artistic career, Adedayo works as a Certified Nursing Assistant. His experiences in healthcare inform his exploration of the relationship between the mind, body, and spirit, particularly within Black communities.
Rooted in his Yoruba heritage, Adedayo’s practice extends into fashion as a site of cultural assertion. Traditional African references are reimagined through bold silhouettes, intricate detailing, and expressive use of color. Across fashion, painting, and mixed media, he explores healing as an ongoing process tied to memory, identity, and the preservation of Black cultural narratives.
His work carries a distinct visual language that honors the traditions shaping Black culture while maintaining his personal voice.
